AquaFetch: A Unified Python Interface for Water Resource Dataset Acquisition and Harmonization

AquaFetch is a free Python package that gathers 70 separate water datasets into a single, consistent form. Researchers who study water routinely lose days to the work it replaces, because every source publishes its measurements in a different layout, with different units and its own quirks, before any analysis can begin. The collection spans rainfall and river flow for 47,291 river basins drawn from 36 sources worldwide, 16 water quality datasets, and 22,471 laboratory measurements from wastewater treatment experiments. Ten of those were compiled here for the first time from publicly accessible online sources. The code is deliberately structured so that others can add datasets to it, allowing the collection to keep growing.
